Andrea Leinberger-Jabari, who is also our beloved advisor, has been confirmed as a speaker for PHTT 2019! Her talk titled ‘Designing impactful public health interventions’ will provide a quick overview of strategies to consider when designing effective interventions to improve community health.
A Public Health professional with over ten years experience in developing strategy, leading and evaluating public health programs, Andrea serves as an advisor for Public Health Think Tank. She plays an active part in the planning process before the conference takes place and acts as a guidance for our winning team in the months after the conference.
At NYU Abu Dhabi, she currently holds the title of Assistant Director for Tobacco Research which investigates tobacco use behaviors among people living in the UAE and the region as part of the Public Health Research Center. Results of her studies have been published in more than 15 research papers by various scientific journals. Moreover, her work in the UAE specifically covered by The National in an article regarding smoking rates for women in the country.
Before working at NYU Abu Dhabi, Andrea already had experience working in educational institutions. She worked at the Center for Clinical and Translational Science at Rockefeller University, where she was in charge of building bridges between different members of the community to increase engagement across disciplines. Prior to her work here, she worked at the University of Minnesota, where she served as Assistant Director of Community-Engaged Research Programs and as Senior Technical Advisor. Andrea received her MPH from the University of Minnesota School of Public Health in the areas of Community Health Education and Epidemiology after her BA in Anthropology from Arizona State University.
